Aveo Announces Kidney Cancer Drug Tivozanib Meets Late-Stage Goal

The Dow Jones Newswires (1/4, Kamp, Subscription Publication) reports Aveo Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced tivozanib, a medication intended to treat advanced kidney cancer, met its goal in a late-stage trial. Dow Jones Newswires

Bloomberg News (1/4, Tirrell) reports, "The drug helped patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma live for 11.9 months without their disease progressing in a late-stage study, compared with 9.1 months for those on Nexavar [sorafenib], a medicine sold by Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Bayer AG, Aveo said."
